DELAYS and busy roads around the new St Mary's junction are being reported today.

Heavy traffic around the areas of B&Q and the approach to Cowes from Newport are affected.

Drivers are reporting long waits to exit the junction from B&Q on to the new junction.

Southern Vectis also cautioned its Route 1 from Newport to Cowes was running approximately 15 minutes behind, due to the traffic build-up.

A spokesperson said: "Owing to the build up of traffic along Cowes Road between Stag Lane and St Mary's traffic system, Route 1 is currently suffering delays of up to 15 minutes. Please allow time for your journey and any connections."

Isle of Wight County Press:

The current phase of the works, which is replacing the St Mary's roundabout with a signal-controlled junction, will run until November 23.

Hunnyhill is closed to all through traffic, except buses, while the work is underway. Resident access remains, but from the southern end of the road only (at its junction with Foxes Road and Hunnycross Way).

Access to Whitesmith Road is via Albany Road during this time.

The final phase of the work to layout Parkhurst Road as a cul-de-sac with no through access will be completed between November 23 and December 18.

The floating bridge is still not running from Cowes to East Cowes, although this is due back into service on Tuesday morning.
