THE Isle of Wight Council has elected to remove a car park ticket machine which has become the target of repeated vandalism.

The machine, located in the car park off The Broadway, Totland, will be removed this Friday (October 16).

Motorists using the car park from then on will be required to use PayByPhone to pay for parking.

"You can pay on the PayByPhone app or by phone, but you will not be able to use coins," said a spokesperson for the council.

"Please note, parking charges only apply for stays over an hour."

PayByPhone states that by using its service, there may be a separate service fee and additional charges for receiving SMS text messages and receipts, which are added to the tariff amount.

These may be displayed locally at each parking location and in the app before confirming your parking session.
