NEWPORT were rampant away at Ringwood Town to make it three wins in the past seven days to catapult them into third place in Division 1 of the Sydenhams Wessex League this afternoon (Saturday).

On paper, it looked a tough game against a side in the upper reaches of the division, but Newport dominated the game — beating Ringwood 5-2 on the road

Newport were 2-0 up at the break with goals by Jordan Browne and Joe Butcher — and they were unlucky not have gone in by more at the break.

It wasn't long before the visitors scored their first — a long ball and one-on-one, nicked past Cowes keeper, Ed Hatt on 23 minutes.

The goal was a huge blow to Cowes and they conceded again on 32 minutes — a poor goal after a back pass was intercepted and slotted home.

Cowes started the seond half the brighter, but when the third came after 56 minutes, it became an impossible task for the Islanders.

Tadley wrapped it up with a fourth on 71 minutes — another one-on-one with Hatt, who had no chance.
