The Met Office's weekend weather warning for the Isle of Wight has been updated - and where you are on the Isle of Wight matters, when it comes to how and when you will see more heavy rain.

Today's (Friday's) warning for strong winds and heavy rain remains in force until 8pm.

Earlier, Storm Alex brought down trees and caused disruption on The Solent.

The County Press has been blogging updates live all day - and will continue to do that over the weekend.

What's the weather warning update?

Overnight tonight a new rain warning will come into force. But how it will affect you is dependent on where you are on the Isle of Wight.

East of the Island...

Isle of Wight County Press:

For the east of the Island, a new warning for rain will run from midnight until 10am tomorrow (Saturday).

The Met Office says: "Following Friday's rainfall, a further area of rain will push across the east and southeast of England overnight into Saturday before clearing westwards. 15-25 mm of rain is expected widely with some areas perhaps potentially seeing 30-50 mm."

West of the Island...

However, the west of the Isle of Wight should be prepared for heavy rain for a much longer time.

Isle of Wight County Press:

Its weather warning runs from 3am tomorrow morning (Saturday) until midday on Sunday, and the area narrowly misses out on a more serious amber alert.
