A PET dog in constant pain could be helped if a charity raises £3,000 for an operation.

Romi's owner has been made redundant due to the coronavirus pandemic, and is desperately seeking help.

Friends of the Animals has set up a campaign to raise the funds needed.

Owner Sophia said: "Romi truly is the best companion we could ever have asked for.

"I have three small children and Romi is amazing with them."

Isle of Wight County Press:

At the beginning of the year, Sophia was made redundant due to Covid-19.

As the bad luck continued, she noticed Romi had started limping. An X-ray revealed she had snapped a ligament in her left knee.

Sophia said: “We have waited almost five months for Romi to get an operation at the PDSA.

"However, because of the Covid situation they are not doing anything other than life and death work.

"The upset I carry for poor Romi cannot be described. She cannot put her foot down and hops around in constant pain.

"Even worse, she’s spent most of her life suffering like this.

"Things are so bad for her that she tries to hold off passing water, as when she gets in position to pee she screams out.

"Romi is not yet one year old. She is so gentle and doesn't deserve the constant pain she is in.

"Friends of the Animals is now our only hope. Please help bring our beautiful girl back to health."

A spokesperson for the IW charity said: "Please help us with this very sad case. We won’t give up, but the longer it takes to raise the funds, the longer Romi will be left to suffer.

"The cost of surgery will be at least £3,000."
