THERE has been a heavy police presence in Newport this afternoon, following reports of a public order incident.
An Isle of Wight Police spokesperson said: "We were called just after 2pm today, Friday, September 25, to reports of a public order incident at an address on Garden Way.
"The victim, a 38-year-old woman, reported a man had been making threats of violence.
"Officers attended and the suspect had left the scene prior to their arrival."
A member of the public told the County Press: "There were sirens and five police vehicles. People said they were looking for a man."
