THERE have been a number of new confirmed cases of coronavirus recorded for the Isle of Wight.

The figures were updated today by Public Health England, and show five new cases, registered earlier in the week but only added on today.

This brings the total cumulative number of cases on the Isle of Wight to 455.

There have been problems for some people getting tested, as previously reported.

Island MP Bob Seely has written to health secretary Matt Hancock to request urgent action.

Islanders have been struggling to access both home test kits and appointments at the Island’s drive-through testing facility, at Newclose Cricket Ground.

Official figures show the UK has recorded 37 new Covid-19 related deaths, with the total now at 41,862, and 6,178 new cases today — the third highest daily increase to date — with the total number now standing at 409,729.
