A COLLABORATIVE event between volunteers, Vectis Quilters of Cowes and Ryde fabric shop the Stitching Elmers is now underway.

The quilting fundraiser is aiming to raise money for charity shops in the town.

All the shops are now displaying various quilts and craft items kindly donated by the event's organisers and volunteers.

The items will remain visible in the windows of charity shops in Ryde's High Street for the rest of this month while being raffled.

A spokesperson for the Stitching Elmers said: "The aim is to help the various charities who have lost out on funds this year due to the pandemic and boost enthusiasm for sewers and knitters alike.

"It’s a great way to raise funds with social distancing, and to put our extra time to good use to create and come together with others.

"We hope the charities get the support they so desperately need and the public gains inspiration from them what they see."

Those wishing to donate to the event can do so visiting The Stitching Elmers at 73-74 High Street in Ryde. To find out more contact Shirley on 07551254932.
