WESSEX Cancer Trust’s drive-in Christmas cinema will return to the Isle of Wight this year.

Back by popular demand, tickets have today (Friday) been released for the two-day event, which will feature six festive films.

The charity has secured the support of sponsors WightFibre, Hose Rhodes Dickson, Novum Law, Fidelity International and Find Us On Web — to host the event in the Robin Hill car park on December 5 and 6.

Saturday screenings will comprise Frozen, Elf and The Holiday, while on Sunday, The Polar Express, How The Grinch Stole Christmas and Love Actually will be aired on a giant LED screen, with the soundtrack played through each car radio.

Community engagement manager, Lorraine White said: “After the year we’ve all had, we thought Islanders could do with something to look forward to, and what better way to welcome Christmas than with a weekend of festive films.

“Grab your hot snacks and drinks on-site before snuggling down in the comfort and safety of your own car with your family and favourite festive film.

“It’s been a tough year for everyone, Wessex Cancer Trust included, so please show your support for our first real event since lockdown and let’s get Christmas 2020 started in style.”

The event will take place with Covid-19 restrictions and social-distancing rules in place.

Tickets for each screening are limited and are available at www.wessexcancer.org.uk/drive-in-2020

The suggested donation is £25 per car, and all money raised will help Wessex Cancer Trust support Islanders affected by cancer.
