A new chair and vice chair will be elected when the Isle of Wight Council meets online later today (Wednesday).

Cllr George Cameron is the local authority's current chair and Cllr Shirley Smart has been in the vice chair role.

Also on the agenda is a motion submitted by Ryde's Cllr Michael Lilley.

He is proposing to shake-up the way renewable energy is produced on the Isle of Wight.

He wants the local authority to support the Local Electricity Bill.

Supported by a number of MPs across the country, it would help level the playing field for local, green power suppliers if it became law.

The Isle of Wight Council meeting starts at 5pm.
