A RYDE man who repeated attacks against his girlfriend immediately after being released from custody, now faces a possible jail term.

Island magistrates ordered a report on Kieran James Thompson after he admitted four assault by beating charges and another of intimidating a witness during lockdown.

Thompson, 25, of High Park Square, attacked the victim over May 2 and May 3 and was held in custody awaiting sentencing.

But the day after he was released on bail on August 7, Thompson "continued his campaign of violence" against the woman, said Ann Smout, prosecuting, at the IW Magistrates Court on Tuesday (8).

For jobless Thompson, Oscar Vincent told the bench his client was an extremely vulnerable man with mental health problems — his condition exacerbated by being in custody.

Thompson was remanded in custody to reappear for sentencing at the same venue on September 21.
