Hot on the heels of the County Press's story about the arrival of the Our Island group, which wants to shake-up what it calls 'pale, male and stale' Isle of Wight politics, a second new political party is in the early stages of being formed.

The Vectis Party has applied for registration this month (August).

Its application hints at causes including the environment, healthcare, development and jobs.

Linked to the project is a former Wootton Bridge councillor and ex-The Brexit Party and Independent parliamentary candidate for the Isle of Wight.

Daryll Pitcher told the County Press that the Vectis Party is in its early stages and discussions are ongoing about the need for "something different in politics".

Meanwhile, Our Island wrote to the County Press this week.
