A WOMAN was rescued by a jetskier after she swam out of her depth to try to catch an inflatable swan.

Two members of the public warned her not to swim out, alongside Ryde Pier, to try to retrieve the inflatable, but she ignored advice — according to HM Coastguard.

The members of the public called 999 and the Coastguard sent Bembridge and Ventnor Coastguard rescue teams plus Gosport Lifeboat to the scene, this evening (Wednesday).

By the time they got there, the woman was out of her depth but was picked up by a jetskier and brought back to shore.

She was given safety advice and was unhurt. A spokesperson said: "She was very lucky."
