IN NEED of a chat? John's Club, a user-led organisation that supports adults with any form of learning disability or mental health issue, has set up a helpline — which their volunteers describe as a much needed service.

The club already runs several groups and a day centre, but over the last few months its team has noticed an increase in the calls they are getting from people who are either lonely and want to chat or need advice, or help understanding stuff.

As a result, they have decided to start a chat line where people can simply phone for a chat or seek advice.

A spokesperson said: "This is a service we feel is very much needed here on the Island. Our staff are here to listen, no matter how big or small the problem."

The helpline will start from August 24.

Times are 4pm to 9pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, 11am to 4pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 10am to 4pm on Saturdays.

The phone numbers are 07955 769576 for the 4pm to 9pm shifts, or 07907 342566 for the day time shifts.
