PEOPLE have flocked to beaches and parks across the Isle of Wight today, with temperatures reported to have topped 36c.
Lake was the town with the highest recorded weather, peaking at a sweltering 36.1 degrees Celcius, during a weekend heatwave that saw the British summer embraced on sands across the UK.
The hottest day of the year is likely to be followed by thunderstorms, with the Met Office issuing a yellow warning from tomorrow (Monday).

Despite the impending storms, the hot weather is expected to continue until the middle of September according to the latest long-range forecast.
AccuWeather predicts the warm temperatures will stick around until September 11.
It reports that from late August the UK will experience several weeks of sunny conditions.
