A pattern cutter, who grew up on the Isle of Wight and later helped dress the stars on the BBC's Strictly Come Dancing, has been on coronavirus frontline duty in London and has also been honoured with an award.

She might be handy with the scissors and chalk, but Kimberley Giacomelli's also got plenty of skill when to comes to a physical challenge.

She has completed the 26-week infantryman's combat course in Catterick and was awarded a medal at her passing out parade, for being the best at physical training.

In recent weeks, the former Cowes High School has been tasked to oversee Covid-19 testing in the capital, in her role as an army reservist.

Kimberley said: "I was proud to win the medal. It was always an ambition of mine to join the army, so to gain the award feels fantastic."

But Kimberley is even prouder of her little sister - an ICU nurse at St Mary's Hospital in Newport.

She said: "I am proud to serve my country when needed, but prouder of NHS workers like my sister Kady who are on the frontline during this pandemic."
