Yarmouth RNLI lifeboat was called to help a yacht off St Catherine's Point, at about 9:20am today (Saturday).

A 32 foot ketch requested help, seven miles west of the Isle of Wight's most southerly point.

The yacht and its two person crew were towed to Yarmouth Harbour and were met by members of the Needles Coastguard Rescue Team.

Lifeboat coxswain, Howard Lester said: ‘It is important to ensure your boat and equipment is checked carefully before undertaking a long passage at sea.’
