A LORRY has collided with a building in Newport this afternoon (Friday).

Diversions are in place on Lugley Street, with the one-way route closed and traffic now being diverted via Holyrood Street as a result.

The building has suffered damage and police are on the scene.

Isle of Wight County Press:

A spokesperson for the Hampshire Constabulary said: "We were called at 12.12pm today (Friday) to reports of a DAF lorry colliding with a building on Lugley Street, Newport.

"This is believed to have caused structural damage to the building. Highways and the local council are on scene dealing with the debris and the damage to the building."

The Isle of Wight County Press has been told no one has been hurt.
