A 60-YEAR-OLD man from Shanklin has been charged with drink driving and failing to stop after an accident.

David Henderson, of Rush Close, was arrested in the town on Thursday, July 23, following a crash in Church Road the previous evening.

Emergency crews were called to a single vehicle crash outside the Village Inn pub, in the Old Village, at around 11.20pm.

A spokesperson for the Hampshire Constabulary said: "We can confirm a 60-year-old man from Shanklin has been charged with driving while unfit through alcohol and failing to stop after an accident.

"He has been released on bail and is due to appear in court on 21 August."
