AWARD-WINNING Isle of Wight street food business Dumpling Dumpling was faced with the daunting prospect of a cancelled festival calendar this summer, potentially putting the business at risk.

With unwavering support from the local community, the enticing eaterie run by Dan and Nat Stirrup changed its business model, allowing customers to continue getting their dumpling fix.

Since lockdown began in March, as well as delivering hot Chinese fushion food, Dumpling Dumpling has been delivering frozen packs of its handmade fare for customers to prepare in the comfort of their own home.

Dumpling Dumpling was recognised at the Hampshire Street Food awards in November 2019, and has been trading at Outside In food court in Portsmouth; the van has been a regular feature of the street food scene on the Island and across the Solent.

With an ever-changing menu incorporating meat, vegan and sweet options, Dumpling Dumpling has recently started delivering to customers on the mainland for the first time.

Sales director, Dan Stirrup, said: “We’ve felt so supported by the amazing Isle of Wight community, and this support has allowed us to continue doing what we love.

"Seeing photos of our dumplings steamed, deep fried and even barbecued, in kitchens across the Island, has made us so happy. We want to thank everyone who has placed an order or sent us words of encouragement.”
