Carisbrooke Primary has found an innovative way to give its year six leavers their signed shirts - despite coronavirus.

Just when it seemed inevitable that the age old school tradition would fall victim to Covid-19 social distancing measures, the school teamed up with Isle of Wight firm Rapanui.

Instead, the Freshwater enterprise printed shirts covered by the signatures of the primary school leavers - creating a unique memento for the children and ensuring that noone had to share a pen, or the same space.

Year six teacher, Jaimie Payne, said: “This year has been hard and, like many children, our students in year six have missed so many of the special moments in their final year of primary school education.

"They were so chuffed to receive the shirts."
