The road through Shanklin Old Village has reopened this morning (Thursday).

Last night, emergency crews rushed to the scene of a crash - with firefighters from the town among those called out.

They attended an incident in Church Road at around 11:30pm.

This morning, damage is still evident on the Old Thatch Teashop building but other debris has been cleared.

The crash, involving a single vehicle, closed the road.

Southern Vectis's route 3 buses were diverted via Whiteley Bank and Victoria Avenue in both directions, for a time, but have since returned to normal timetable.

Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue said its firefighters the area safe and remained on scene for around an hour.
