A VICAR with a deep admiration for Bob Dylan has recorded an EP in homage to the legendary rocker, raising funds for Ventnor Exchange in the process.

Rev Canon Hugh Wright of the Parishes of St Catherine's and Holy Trinity in Ventnor, and St Boniface in Bonchurch, recorded the six tracks in his study using a smartphone.

The EP — Stuck Inside with Bob — includes tracks such as Stuck Inside in Lockdown, We Can be Released and The Slogan is a-changin’.

All songs are reworkings of Bob Dylan classics, with money from sales and donations being used to assist the Ventnor arts hub during this challenging time.

Rev Wright said: "I have always been Bob Dylan mad. His music speaks to a sense of being confined — taking the listener to a place where imagination can be lifted.

"Life has been completely changed during lockdown, with technology coming to the fore and allowing congregation. We are looking forward to all our church doors opening once again on July 26.

"Ventnor Exchange has worked closely with the local churches in recent years, and I felt as a creative enterprise it would be fitting to donate to them any money received from this creative project.

"Creating the EP, and being a part of the local music community, has kept me sane during rather strange times."

Rev Wright has long been a member of Ventnor Guitar Club, which has seen members meet for weekly online sessions during lockdown.

His music has already been featured on BBC Radio Solent and independent Anglican weekly newspaper, Church Times.
