THE Wight Knight and Deadpool will feature among a six-strong squad donning their superhero outfits for a charitable trek along the cycle track from Sandown to Newport and back.

The walk, spanning around 16 miles, will raise money to replace a clothing steamer in the Multiple Sclerosis charity shop in Shanklin.

The essential equipment allows the shop to sanitise clothing it receives — something especially pertinent during the current pandemic.

The superhero stroll — due to take place in either late August or early September — will comply with social distancing guidelines and include photos and videos posted to The Wight Knight's Facebook and Instagram pages.

The Wight Knight said: "Since appearing on ITV's This Morning, I have raised money for autistic charities on the Island through comic artwork sales, given a number of talks on anti-bullying, and continued my night-time neighbourhood patrols.

"For the first event I have created myself, I wanted to raise money for another charity I have connections to.

"The MS shop does amazing work helping people with the condition to fill in forms and gain access to other information. It also provides support for carers and a friendly face to talk to.

"I am glad I can help this charity receive the funds and recognition it deserves."

Those wishing to donate can do so via the Wight Knight's Facebook page or at the MS charity shop on Regent Street, Shanklin.
