AN ISLE of Wight business that provides music sessions for young children has asked the community to help support it through its enforced closure.

Caterpillar Music IW benefits 170 children Islandwide each week, through sessions with parents and in nursery settings, and has been running for 14 years.

Owner Maggie Carberry has raised £20,000 for IW-based charities in that time too, and now she is hoping her business can be helped in its time of need.

She has been unable to hold any of her charity fundraisers, such as quiz nights and walks, so she is pledging to give 20 per cent of donations to Mountbatten.

She said: "Due to coronavirus, all these children and parents are missing out on learning through the interactive sessions.

"I am trying to continue to build on Caterpillar Music so it will be a safe environment for children and parents alike once we are able to return.

"This might mean I have to purchase further equipment so when I have classes back-to-back, parents would be assured each session is a completely clean and safe environment to bring their children along to.

"All monies raised will ensure we are able to do this."
