A FESTIVAL to celebrate 50 years since the Last Great Event — Experience 1970 — has been moved to 2021.

The festival was due to take place at Afton Down, the site of the original 1970 Isle of Wight Festival.

A statement by the organisers said: "In order to keep Island residents, festival goers, artists, festival crew and traders safe we have decided to move the 50th Anniversary celebration at Afton Down to September 2021.

"Behind the scenes all the same artists that were billed for September 2020 have been rebooked for the same days in September 2021.

"It will be a great celebration of the Last Great Event. All tickets bought for 2020 will be valid for 2021."

On the line-up were John Lodge from the Moody Blues, Ten Years After, Pentangle, and Arthur Brown with Dick Taylor of The Pretty Things.

The new dates are September 3, 4 and 5, 2021.
