AN open air market, due to be held at the County Showground in Northwood this morning (Sunday), has been called off because of the forecast high winds.

It was the first of two events due to be held this month (July), designed to boost trade for local suppliers.

Organisers said: "After the last few months and all the hard work undertaken to get to this far we are extremely disappointed to have to make this decision. However the safety of the traders and visitors was the primary consideration."

Weather permitting, a market will be held next Sunday, between 10am to 2pm and further events will follow.
