A suspected box of ammunition has been moved from Blackgang beach by Ventnor's Coastguard Rescue Team, this afternoon (Saturday).
They were called to the South Wight coastline at around 3:50pm.
After discussions with the mainland-based bomb disposal experts, Royal Navy EOD, the item was taken to Ventnor's coastguard station, according to the team's Twitter post.
They have thanked the person who found the item on the beach and called for help.
