TRADING Standards is warning Islanders to keep an eye out for three new scams that have been trying to take advantage of residents.

Isle of Wight Against Scams Partnership (IWASP) has warned of scams by phone and email that attempt to trick their victims into thinking they have been hacked or owe money.

Sally Ash, fair trading officer for the council, said: "One is an automated phone message pretending to be Amazon Prime to say your account has been debited £79 and press 1 to get a refund.

"Another is an email from TV Licensing stating that there has been a problem collecting your direct debit – you will be told to complete a new form with your bank details.

"The last is an automated call purporting to be from your internet service provider to say that your internet service is about to be cut off and you need to make a payment.

"These are all scams."
