BEAUTIFUL Shanklin Chine has re-opened following coronavirus lockdown.

The attraction, which first opened in 1817, has again opened its gates to the public.

It opened yesterday, following Government guidelines and social distancing measures.

Doors are open from 10am to 10pm, and weather permitting, won't close until Sunday, November 8.

There is a dedicated entrance and exit, with access to the Chine now from the Esplanade entrance only until further notice, and exiting through the turnstiles.

The tearoom will be serving a selection of drinks, lunches and cream teas daily.

There is restricted access to the PLUTO room and exhibition rooms, where you can see exhibitions on smuggling, George Morland (1763-1804), and photographer Frederick Hudson.

The Chine Illuminations will also still be on, starting at 7pm each evening, when the Chine will be transformed into an enchanting wonderland by hundreds of lights.

The admission fee of £6.95 includes seven days' unlimited return, and there are concessionary rates for children, families and the mobility impaired.

Fisherman’s Cottage Inn, run by the same company, is also now open.
