A MAN was arrested in Shanklin this morning (Saturday) on suspicion of two drug related offences.

Officers made the arrest after conducting a proactive stop on Palmerston Road, Shanklin, just after midnight, after seeing a grey Vauxhall Corsa driving erratically.

A spokesperson for Isle of Wight Police said: "The driver ­— a 49-year-old man from Shanklin ­— provided a positive result for driving under the influence of drugs.

"An amount of white powder, cash, and a set of scales were found on his person.

"He was arrested on suspicion of drug driving and being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs.

"He remains in custody at this time."
