THE mother of 30-year-old Rachael Stratton — who died after being trapped between a car and a fence in Newchurch last week — has paid tribute to her daughter.

In a post on Facebook, Rachael's mother Judith said: "If you enjoyed the socially distanced dancing in Western Road throughout lockdown, watch this video and celebrate the life of our daughter, the amazing and irreplaceable Rachael Stratton, who passed away earlier this week.

"She has brought so much pleasure to so many people and deserves a big audience.

"We miss her so much, but she has left us so many wonderful memories and her love of life will live on in us forever.

"Our beautiful sparkling star."

Posting a video of Rachael on its Facebook page, theatrical production company SpotlightIOW said: "For you, our beautiful friend.

"Our very own superstar, Rachael.

"A leading lady on and off the stage.

"Always shining her light on her students, colleagues and anyone who met her.

"Now and forever, the brightest star in the sky.

"They say that the show must go on, and it inevitably will, but it will never be quite the same again."

On Tuesday, police were called to reports that a Toyota Yaris had collided with a pedestrian.

They later confirm the 30-year-old pedestrian, now named locally as Rachael Stratton, died as a result of the collision.
