WITHOUT festivals, outdoor events and weddings, many businesses have suffered this year.

One of those hit hard has been Plaza Ices, of Cowes, which has been unable to serve customers or trade during the peak season.

The company has now taken measures to reopen for business, with additional measures put in place and a new license secured.

Gary Hall, who runs Plaza with wife Debbie, said: "We have invested our grant in applying for a licence to trade on Princes Esplanade in Gurnard, and are delighted to say the application was approved.

"We have been trading in that area under our mobile licence and have been well received, especially by older people who can’t walk far.

"We will be trading on Princes Esplanade from 11.30am until around 4pm daily, weather permitting."

After making its vans Covid-19 secure with safety screens, contactless payments and new cleaning and risk assessments, Plaza Ices will be bringing summer sweetness back to the Island.
