I AM so pleased John Corby is no longer a town councillor, especially if he believes that his opinion outweighs that of the public good.

What right does he think he has to wash away social distancing markers from in front of his house? Does he own the pavement?

If so, perhaps he should be required to maintain it, saving us taxpayers a few pence. Anyone removing or defacing street signs would normally be fined.

The markings were laid down in an effort to help people maintain safe distances.

Whether they were necessary or not is a matter of debate, but they can certainly do no harm. We all need to be reminded as we attempt to return to “normal” that the coronavirus is still at large.

Perhaps when the markings are deemed no longer necessary, Mr Corby should be required to assist in their removal. He might even enjoy his punishment.
