A MEDICAL incident in Ventnor is currently being dealt with by several emergency respondents.

The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has flown in to assist, and two ambulances and a duty officer are also on the scene, thought to be in Trinity Road.

The IW Ambulance Service confirmed the helicopter had been sent to assist after receiving the initial call earlier this afternoon.

Police officers are also present at the location.

UPDATE 5.31pm: The Hampshire Constabulary confirmed they were called to assist the ambulance service with a patient who was behaving erratically.

A spokesperson for the police service said: "We received a call at 4.13pm from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service to an address on Trinity Road in Ventnor.

"They requested assistance in dealing with a patient who was behaving erratically. Officers attended to assist paramedics and followed the ambulance to hospital.

"The matter is ongoing at this time."
