MITCHELL, 9, has a baby sister who spent two weeks in the Isle of Wight’s Special Care Baby Unit when she was born.

The experience has spurred him on to start a lockdown fundraising challenge - running up to 10k around the outside of his home.

Mitchell came up with the idea after watching NHS fundraising hero, former Captain (now Colonel) Tom Moore, when he walked lengths of his garden.

Fortunately, Mitchell enjoys being outdoors, loves running and is part of his school’s cross country team.

He also plans to raise funds for the Vectis Youth Bellringing Team, of which he is a member.

His challenge takes place on Saturday 13 June in Lake.
