IT IS Volunteers' Week, which means it is time to celebrate the amazing Islanders who go above and beyond to help others.
The week-long event is designed to encourage people to get involved in their community and to say thank you to all those who already do their bit (and then some).
Here's the Isle of Wight County Press's run down of just some of the people we are saying thank you to this week.

Isle of Wight Health Trust Volunteers
The IOW NHS Trust has more than three hundred volunteers. According to the health organisation, they’ve been flexible in their approach to coronavirus and have stepped up to new roles. They include newly created Ward Runners, Family Liaison volunteers, Tech Advisers, Patient Care volunteers,PPE Packers and Catering teams.
Volunteers also work as administrators, reception staff, Community First Responders and Hospital Drivers.
Alice Webster, Director of Nursing said “We are very fortunate to have so many volunteers within the Trust supporting our staff and patients. They really do make such a difference. We want them to know how much they are appreciated and we cannot thank them enough for their commitment and support. Each and every one of them is a vital asset to our services”

Isle of Wight Search and Rescue
Day and night, in all weathers, the WightSAR team are on standby to respond. They’ve help in the search for countless missing Islanders, often with little notice.
WightSAR bosses have called their team members “priceless” and we know you’ll agree.

Time to say a BIG THANK YOU to all our team.
Our volunteers willingly give their time to be on call 24/7 to search for missing vulnerable people across the Isle of Wight.

The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance
Quite literally, these volunteers are lifesavers. The charity-funded yellow and green helicopter is an all too familiar sight on the Isle of Wight.
Join us in thanking the people who give their time to save lives on the Island.
We recognise the hard work and dedication of our volunteers everyday, but as today is the start of #NationalVolunteersWeek we wanted to share a special message from paramedic Oli to our fantastic team💚👍🙂 pic.twitter.com/dR7cgkLYa5

Supporting scores of terminally ill Islanders, most families on the Isle of Wight have relied on the services of Mountbatten, either at its Newport hospice or via its outreach services.
It is also using this week to thank the many who give their time to the charity, to support those in need.

This #VolunteersWeek2020 we're featuring one of our hundreds of volunteers each day, who make our hospice what it is 💛 pic.twitter.com/fwqIrDGMgX
Isle of Wight RNLI and independent lifeboat teams
They're with the RNLI, or are members of the Isle of Wight's three independent lifeboat crews. They're coastguards and they're air support crews. These heroes in orange patrol our waters and our coastline and are always just a Mayday call away.
Help us celebrate these Isle of Wight volunteers!
