FIRE crews have been called to a large fire in the open in Ryde this evening (Monday.)
Crews from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service were called to a 'large bonfire' at an address on Puckpool hill in Seaview at 8.56pm.
A spokesperson for the fire service said: "We were called to a large bonfire in the area, we have sent two appliances from Ryde.
"They have used a hose reel jet and hand tools and are now damping down the the area and turning over.
"Crews are still on the scene."
UPDATE 7am:
Firefighters were called to extinguish a large bonfire, five by five meters.
Both crews stood down at 10.57pm.
