MORE than 5,900 face masks, more than 9,000 aprons and more than 16,700 gloves - all critical PPE - have been distributed across the Isle of Wight since March.

The figures are revealed in a report into how the Isle of Wight Council has handled the coronavirus crisis, due to be presented to scrutiny committee members a week today (Tuesday 9 June).

County Hall says it moved quickly to secure its own supplies of PPE from the start of the COVID-19 outbreak.

It has since received five emergency deliveries from the Local Resilience Fund (LRF).

In all, 3,625 tests have been carried out on the Isle of Wight, at the satellite testing centre in the Medina Leisure Centre car park.
