ONE woman has been rescued and handed to the care of the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service after fire crews responded to Newport's Pyle Street this morning (Monday).

Lower Pyle Street has been closed to allow crews from Newport, Cowes and East Cowes to respond to the incident in a second floor flat.
There were initial fears that more people might be trapped.
The service's aerial ladder is also on scene.
