AN AREA in Sandown has been cordoned off today (Friday) — after an unexploded piece of suspected ordnance was found.
A spokesperson for Isle of Wight Police said: "We were called at 12.39pm following the discovery of an item described as a ‘rusty hand grenade’ on the beach near Sandown Yaverland Car Park.
"A cordon is in place and police have informed the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team."
