EMERGENCY service teams have been called to a crash involving a car and a cyclist near Newport this morning (Friday).
One casualty has been reported, 20 meters down an embankment.
Among those in attendance are two fire crews from Newport, who are using a rope pack and equipment to reach the individual.
The crash took place on Middle Road, and the road has been closed between Elm Lane and Betty Haunt Lane.
A spokesperson for Isle of Wight Police said: "We were notified at 8.33am by the ambulance service to a collision between a car and a cyclist on the B3401, between Swainston Manor and the Blacksmith Arms, near the junction with Betty Haunt Lane."
Southern Vectis' 9.02am Route 7 service from Calbourne toward Totland has been delayed by approximately 25 minutes.
A spokesperson for Southern Vectis said: "At the moment, we have a vehicle stuck which we are in the process of turning around."
