EMERGENCY service teams­ ­— together with volunteer search and rescue team WightSAR ­— have been called to search for a missing male in the West Wight this morning (Wednesday).

The call came in at 11.56pm last night (Tuesday), and Coastguard Rescue helicopter 175 is reportedly involved in the search.

Coastguard rescue teams have also been drafted to assist police with the search, and a spokesperson for the coastguard said the incident is ongoing.

UPDATE 8am: 

Needles and Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Teams are involved in the search, while Coastguard Rescue helicopter 175 was called to assist in the early hours of this morning — between 1.30am and 3am.  

The incident is ongoing.

UPDATE 9.45am: 

Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team says it was tasked alongside Needles Coastguard Rescue Team to support Isle of Wight Police with high risk missing person searches, after personal items and clothing were found at Alum Bay. 

A search was completed with nothing found.

Teams were later retasked to complete a series of low water searches, before standing down at 9.30am.
