A SANDOWN hotel is among those owned and operated by the collapsed Specialist Leisure Group.

The group, now in administration, includes well-known coach holiday brands Shearings and National Holidays, plus Bay Hotels which owns the Broadway Park Hotel in Melville Street.

It is one of Sandown's biggest and most well-established hotels.

Tonight, the hotel website said: "The Specialist Leisure Group entered administration on May 22, 2020.

"All tours, cruises, holidays and hotel breaks booked have been cancelled and will not be rescheduled."

Shearings offered a wide range of coach holidays to the Isle of Wight.

It said on its website: "The Isle of Wight is one of our most popular destinations. All of our Isle of Wight coach holidays include a variety of day trips to other places on the Island, some via the Isle of Wight steam railway."

Travel trade organisation Abta said the hotel and travel company had been "significantly impacted" by the coronavirus pandemic.

Across the group, about 2,500 jobs have been lost and 64,000 bookings have been cancelled.

The company, which has its headquarters in Wigan, specialised in breaks and events for the over 50s.
