A MAN who was attended to by emergency services at a Shanklin beach has died in hospital, the Isle of Wight Police confirmed this afternoon (Friday).

Ambulance crews, alongside Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team, were called to Hope Beach on Monday afternoon to rescue a man who had fallen on the sea wall steps.

A spokesperson for the police said: "A man was sadly pronounced dead at hospital after the ambulance service were called to Hope Beach on Monday.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious."
