POLICE have arrested a Newport man today (Thursday) on suspicion of theft after a woman had her mobile phone stolen in a Cowes car park.
A spokesperson for the Isle of Wight Police said: "Officers investigating the theft of a mobile phone in a car park in Terminus Road, Cowes, have arrested a 20-year-old man from Newport.
"He has been arrested on suspicion of theft from a person. He has also been arrested on suspicion of robbery, relating to an incident later the same evening, where a laptop was taken in Admiral Gardens, Cowes.
"He remains in custody at this time."
