A MAN who went on a spree of thefts through Cowes has been jailed for six months at the Isle of Wight Magistrates' Court.

Roland Howard Tomlin, 42, of Terminus Road, Cowes, pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary other than dwelling, one count of theft, two counts of assault by beating and another count of attempted burglary as he appeared in court on Monday.

The court heard how, starting on May 13, Tomlin broke into Bahar Tandoori on Cowes High Street where he stole a till, £80 in cash, a printer and a tablet, to the value of £1,100.

Later, on May 15, Tomlin broke into the Duke of York pub on Mill Hill Road where he made off with a vacuum cleaner and bedding worth around £50.

It was detailed to the court how later that same day Tomlin stole a bottle of whisky from Sainsbury's and assaulted two people.

Tomlin also pleased guilty to attempting to enter the Vectis Tavern on the High Street on May 17.

He was also ordered to pay £600 of compensation to Bahar Tandoori, the Duke of York and the Vectis Tavern.
