THE owners of a popular Isle of Wight pub have been doing their bit to keep the local community in high spirits during lockdown.

The Fox Family of Yarbridge Inn have been preparing and sending out meals three times a week — using volunteer delivery drivers — to vulnerable people around the Island.

Last Wednesday, May 6, saw the establishment deliver its 3,000th meal, with the family relying solely on donations from local companies and via a funding page.

Becky Fox, who runs the Yarbridge Inn with brother Richard and mother Jane, said: "When lockdown started we had a lot of food left over and the supermarkets were being stripped bare. We wanted to use everything we had, so offered meals to vulnerable people in the local area for free.

"From there it gathered momentum, and when we ran out of food the community stepped in with donations. We are providing meals for around 160 people, and have delivered more than 3,000 meals to all parts of the Island.

"Our team of nine volunteers have been working tirelessly to deliver food to people's doorsteps. We are grateful for any food donations or other contributions anybody is able to provide."

Those wishing to receive meals or donate food to the cause can send a message to Becky and the team at hello@theyarbridgeinn.co.uk.
