NORTHWOOD man Rhys Peacey has died — more than three years after being left for dead after a deliberate attempt on his life in France.

Rhys, 25, died yesterday (Sunday) after suffering a seizure as a result of his injuries.

He was deliberately run over in the Alps in February 2017 and following a lengthy judicial process and trial, a French-Moroccan man was jailed for 12 years after being found guilty of attempted murder.

Rhys, who had been working and snowboarding in Chamonix, was with friends when the man and others started hurling obscenities at some girls, and a small fight broke out.

The court heard that the man drove towards the group, turning his steering wheel at speed towards them, then turned his car round to drive back over Rhys.

The accident left Rhys hovering between life and death.

He suffered terrible head injuries and was left brain damaged, unable to walk properly or use his right hand.

His mother Suzanne told the County Press today: "Rhys fought so hard, it was a miracle he survived three years ago but he was a very determined young man.

"We had taken over the majority of his care. He died after an horrendous seizure and it was a total shock, nobody expected it.

"He was getting more independent and accepting of his disabilities.

"We have talked so much about him over the past 24 hours and everybody says he had such a big personality. Everybody who met him fell in love with him."

Rhys leaves behind his mum Suzanne, dad Adam, brother Jake, sisters Gemma and Alice, and his much-loved nieces and nephews.

A funeral service is to be arranged.
