A MEDICAL incident in Bembridge is currently being dealt with by several emergency respondents.

The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has flown in to assist, and two ambulances are also on the scene, at Bembridge Harbour.

The IW Ambulance Service confirmed the helicopter had been sent to assist, after the initial call came in at 1.15pm this afternoon (Friday).

UPDATE: The Embankment Road is closed and Southern Vectis buses in the area have been delayed.

UPDATE 3.30pm: The casualty had suffered a fall and has been transferred to hospital by the Coastguard Helicopter.

A statement from HM Coastguard said: "HM Coastguard received a request for assistance at 13:30 today (8th May) from Isle of Wight Ambulance Service after a person fell on to a houseboat moored at Bembridge Harbour.

"Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team, Isle of Wight Ambulance Service, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance and the Coastguard search and rescue helicopter from Lee on Solent were all sent.

"The person has been transferred to hospital by the Coastguard Helicopter."
